They walked, they ran and they conquered the track!聽
St Mary’s College was proudly represented at this year’s Relay for Life, with an enthusiastic team of Year 11 and 12 students joining staff members to take on the track. Together, they completed an impressive number of laps and raised $4,000 to support Cancer Council Tasmania’s vital work in cancer research, prevention and support services.
Relay for Life, an initiative of Cancer Council Tasmania, brings communities together to celebrate cancer survivors, honour loved ones lost and contribute to the ongoing fight against cancer.
The 2026 Hobart event was held on Saturday 28 March, with our students and staff participating from 10.00am through to 10.00pm.
One of the most moving moments of the event was the Candlelight Ceremony of Hope, where participants paused to reflect on the profound impact cancer has across families and communities.
Congratulations to Team SMC for rallying behind such a meaningful cause. Cancer touches so many lives, and seeing our students and staff stand united speaks volumes about the compassion and spirit of our College. It’s a powerful reminder of the difference we can make when we show up together.
